RoomSuite Modular System & Q-SYS Connect
In a RoomSuite Modular System (RMS) deployment, Q-SYS Connect acts as the software bridge that enables certified UC control workflows to function within RMS’s configuration environment. It provides the real-time communication layer between the UC platform, Q-SYS control surfaces, and the RMS processor, ensuring all components operate as a unified system.
Q-SYS Connect is required if you want to display Zoom Rooms call controls on Q-SYS touch controllers or enable the MTR second-page experience. Without Q-SYS Connect, these UC control features are not available within the RoomSuite Modular System interface.
Zoom Rooms
Q-SYS Connect enables Q-SYS touch controllers to function as certified Zoom Rooms controllers, presenting native Zoom call controls alongside Q-SYS room controls on a single interface. This approach supports scalable deployments—such as divisible rooms, mirrored controllers, and advanced control scenarios—while maintaining Zoom certification.
To enable the Q-SYS room controls second-page experience (SPE) in a Zoom Rooms deployment, Q-SYS Control for Zoom Rooms (QCfZR) is also required. After setting Conferencing Compatibility Mode to Zoom Rooms on the Devices page, use the Link Room Controls option to generate the URL path and token needed for QCfZR configuration.
For detailed setup instructions, refer to: How To | Enable Third-Party Controls in Zoom Rooms.
Microsoft Teams Rooms
For Microsoft Teams Rooms deployments, Q-SYS Connect coordinates communication between the Teams compute, the RMP-100, and a third-party MTR-certified controller to deliver a consistent control experience. Q-SYS Connect enables the Q-SYS second-page experience on the MTR controller, providing room controls for video source selection and camera control alongside the native Teams interface.
Hardware Components:
-
RoomSuite Modular System Processor (RMP-100) – Serves as the central processor for audio, video, control, and system management within the RMS deployment.
-
Supported Touchscreen Controller:
-
For Zoom Room deployments, a Q-SYS certified touchscreen controller from the TS-G3 series, such as the TSC-101-G3 is necessary. This touchscreen controller presents both UC call controls and room controls, providing the second‑page room‑control experience. See Devices for more details on pairing.
-
For Microsoft Teams Rooms deployments, a third-party MTR-certified controller is required for UC call controls.
-
-
UC Compute – A Windows based compute configured as either Zoom Rooms for Windows, or Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows.
Network Infrastructure
-
One network interface on the UC compute connected to the AV LAN of the RMP-100.
-
A dual NIC configuration on the UC compute is required for both ZR and MTR deployments:
- One NIC connected to the AV LAN (RMP-100).
- One NIC connected to the Corporate / Internet network for UC services.
Note: For optimal SPE UCI camera preview performance, connect the MTR compute's primary NIC to the RMP-100 A/V LAN, and the secondary NIC to the corporate network.
Note: The A/V LAN interface is used exclusively for communication between Q SYS Connect, the RMP-100, and Q-SYS control surfaces. Using the Corporate LAN interface for this communication will prevent proper operation.
Before configuring Q-SYS Connect on a RoomSuite Modular System, ensure the following software and version requirements are met. For step-by-step setup instructions, refer to the applicable quick start guide at the Q-SYS Knowledge Base:
Q-SYS Connect Software
For RoomSuite Modular System deployments, Q-SYS Connect is available as a standalone download from the Q-SYS Connect software landing page. It is not included in the standard Q-SYS Designer download package.
RoomSuite Modular System Firmware
The RMP-100 must be running a supported RMS firmware version compatible with the installed Q-SYS Connect release. Refer to the compatibility table in the Q-SYS Connect Release Notes for the correct pairing.
UC Platform Software
Zoom Rooms or Microsoft Teams Rooms must meet the minimum version requirements specified by their respective vendors.
-
Double-click the Q-SYS Connect Installer and allow Q-SYS Connect to make changes to your device.
-
Select Microsoft Teams Rooms.
-
Continue to allow the install wizard to install Q-SYS Connect and configure your Microsoft Teams Rooms selection. Do not cancel the install as it will take a few minutes.
-
Click Finish to close the wizard.
Post-Installation Configuration
-
After installation completes, the system requires a reboot. Reboot the MTR PC.
-
Upon reboot, a Windows Security dialog appears: "Do you want to allow public and private networks to access this app?" Click Allow to permit Q-SYS Connect network access.
-
Locate and click Q-SYS Connect icon in the system tray.
-
In the Name field type: QSYSConnectMTR
RMS uses this name to discover and bind to the correct Q‑SYS Connect instance.
-
In the Network Interface, select the address in the 192.168.2.x range.
-
Click the (X) to close Q-SYS Connect and reboot the MTR compute.
Note: Be sure you have one MTR NIC connected to the A/V LAN of the RMP-100 and that the system is in MTR Conferencing Compatibility Mode. See Devices for more information.
-
Double-click the Q-SYS Connect Installer and allow Q-SYS Connect to make changes to your device.
-
Select Zoom Rooms.
-
Continue to allow the install wizard to install Q-SYS Connect and configure your Zoom Rooms selection. Do not cancel the install as it will take a few minutes.
-
Click Finish to close the wizard.
Post-Installation Configuration
-
Locate and click Q-SYS Connect icon in the system tray.
-
In the Name field type: QSYSConnectZR
RMS uses this name to discover and bind to the correct Q‑SYS Connect instance.
-
In the Network Interface, select the address in the 192.168.2.x range.
-
Click the (X) to close Q-SYS Connect and reboot the ZR compute.
Zoom Admin Portal Configuration
After completing the Q-SYS Connect installation and post-installation steps, configure the Zoom Admin portal to enable the Virtual Display feature.
-
Sign in to the Zoom Admin portal.
-
Navigate to Room Management → Zoom Rooms and select the applicable room.
-
Go to Setup → Devices.
-
Enable "Use Windows-attached Zoom Rooms Controller with specific Windows Monitor hardware IDs."
-
In the hardware ID field, enter: QSC:QSC4456
-
Click Save.
Q-SYS Connect's Virtual Display feature uses QSC:QSC4456 as the hardware ID. Once this setting is applied, the Zoom Room will map the Zoom Room Controller UI to the Virtual Display output.
