Use the Cameras page to view and set Privacy and Offline images for all Q-SYS cameras in your design. At least one Q-SYS camera must be present in the running design for these settings to appear.

Note: Q-SYS Designer Software versions 9.7.0 and later include high resolution default images for Privacy, Exiting Privacy, and Offline, as well as support for high resolution uploaded images. If your pre-9.7.0 design currently uses default images, they will be updated automatically in 9.7.0 and later. Custom, uploaded images are retained when upgrading to 9.7.0 and later. However, in most cases, re-uploading custom images will greatly improve quality.

Tip: Camera image files are stored and updated within the running design file. Load and save the design in Q-SYS Designer Software to capture any updates to image files.

Privacy

Camera Privacy Mode helps protect privacy by controlling whether camera preview streams can be viewed through MediaCast.

Allow preview stream (Toggle)

When Allow Preview Streams is set to Off, you can configure the image shown in place of the live camera preview: Upload a custom privacy image to display your organization's branding or message.

If no custom image is configured, a default privacy image is used automatically.

Set Allow Preview Streams to Off when camera preview images should not be visible outside the room or to unauthorized viewers. This helps prevent exposure of live camera content while clearly indicating that privacy protection is active.

Images

Configure the JPG images to appear during various camera states. Click the icon to select a JPG file with a maximum size of 3 MB. Images with a 16:9 aspect ratio are recommended.

Privacy Image

This image appears when the camera is in Privacy Mode.

Exiting Privacy Image

This image appears when the camera is transitioning out of Privacy Mode.

Offline Image

This image appears when the camera is offline.

Camera Firmware Upgrade

When a new firmware version is available for a camera, you can upgrade it from this page. For most peripherals, firmware is upgraded automatically when a design is pushed to the Core. However, some devices require a manual upgrade.

Note: The NC-Pro15x does not support automatic firmware upgrades on design push. You must upgrade NC-Pro15x firmware manually using the Program Selected Cameras button.

To Manually Upgrade Camera Firmware

  1. In Core Manager, navigate to the Cameras page

  2. Verify the camera shows a Needs Upgraded indicator.

  3. Select the camera(s) and click Program Selected Cameras.

  4. Read the power warning and click OK to proceed.

  5. A visual indicator and countdown timer confirm the process has started.

    Note: Do not remove power from the camera during this process.

  6. When the countdown completes, verify the updated firmware version on the Cameras page.

Force Downgrade

Force Downgrade reprograms a camera with an older firmware version. When Force Downgrade is enabled:

  • All camera settings are reset, including camera name, network configuration, device configuration, and image settings.

  • Settings cannot be preserved or restored automatically. There is no data migration.

CAUTION: Force Downgrade erases all camera settings with no option for recovery. Verify you have documented the camera's configuration before proceeding.

To Force a Firmware Downgrade

  1. Select the camera(s) and enable the Firmware Downgrade selector.

  2. Click Program Selected Cameras.

  3. A dialog warns that cameras will lose their settings. Click OK to proceed or Cancel to exit.

  4. Read the power warning and click OK to confirm.

    Note: Do not remove power during the process.
